Tom Hardy is considering the role of George Mallory in a movie about the climber’s expeditions to Mount Everest during the 1920s.Mallory is believed by some to have been the first man to have successfully climbed Mount Everest, three decades ahead of Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay.However, he never returned from his third and final attempt to reach the summit, disappearing along with climbing partner Andrew Irvine in 1924. Mallory’s body was discovered in 1999, and Irvine’s remains have not yet been found.
