Pros to boost Amavubi preps

Amavubi Stars’ late batch of professional players arrives in the country today ahead of 2010 World/Africa qualifier against Mauritania this Saturday. Olivier Karekezi (Hamarkameratene, Norway), Fritz Emeran Nkusi (Levadiakos, Greece) and Bobo Bola (Laundskbois, Sweden) are arriving today evening aboard SN Brussels while Said Abedi Makasi (Hapoel Be’er Sheva, Israel) arrives earlier on aboard Ethiopia Airlines at 1pm local time.

Amavubi Stars’ late batch of professional players arrives in the country today ahead of 2010 World/Africa qualifier against Mauritania this Saturday. Olivier Karekezi (Hamarkameratene, Norway), Fritz Emeran Nkusi (Levadiakos, Greece) and Bobo Bola (Laundskbois, Sweden) are arriving today evening aboard SN Brussels while Said Abedi Makasi (Hapoel Be’er Sheva, Israel) arrives earlier on aboard Ethiopia Airlines at 1pm local time.

Rwanda’s other professional players Jabo Mutsinzi (US Creteil Lusitanos, France) and   Mwizerwa Ngabo (FC Wiltz 71, Luxembourg) reported to the team’s camp over the weekend while Hamad Ndikumana a.k.a Katauti (Anorthosis, Cyprus) came in mid this month.

Meanwhile, Amavubi team got back to intense preparation against Mauritania yesterday at Remera after having Sunday as a rest day.

With only three days to go, Amavubi head coach Tucak Blanko will name his final 18-man squad which will face Mauritania on Friday after assessing the professionals on Wednesday and Thursday.

Rwanda faces Mauritania in her first qualifying campaign. Other countries in Rwanda’s group eight include; Morocco and Ethiopia.

Rwanda will face Ethiopia away in Addis Ababa on June 7 before hosting the Atlas Lions a week later. The Amavubi Stars will then fly to Rabat on June 21 for a return leg against the North African giants.

On September 7, the 2007 Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup losing finalists head to Nouakchott for the second leg against Mauritania before winding up their campaign with a home game against Ethiopia on October 12.
