Young Tigers 71/2

Young Tigers won by eight wickets

Samaly Subashish helped Young Tigers to their second successive Sulfo league victory after picking three wickets and scoring 28 runs.

Subashish who joined the student-studded club early this year from Indorwa claimed three wickets to limit a low strength Challengers’ side to a paltry score of 70 runs.

Gopi Krishnan who lacked support from the other end top scored for the defending champions with 26 runs. Chasing down the score, Young Tigers lost two wickets including that of the league’s top scorer André Kayitera.

The 21-year-old was cheaply dismissed for five runs thanks to some clever bowling from former Young Tigers bowler Evode Mutuyimana. However, Subashish sailed the boat for Young Tigers with a patient knock of 28 runs.

Young Tigers who finished runners-up in 2007 were happy with the day’s performance and vowed to keep the rhythm going.
