Preserving our culture and traditions is mandatory. Rwanda is a country with a rich heritage of tradition and culture which if lost, the country would lose its essence.

In my observations, many well developed countries are devoid of culture and earlier traditions that they once had. This is a shame because modernity in itself is a virus that chews culture. So many people travel miles to come to Africa just to observe and get the feeling of being in a culturally rich society.

In Rwanda the effort to preserve its culture is underway as seen in the recently concluded inauguration of Rwanda Museum of Ancient History which was formerly Rukari Royal palace.

If this exercise continues for the many other sites around the country, Rwanda will surely benefit in terms of foreign exchange because every one will be running to these places. The natives of Rwanda should consider the fact that they are lucky to have a culture and should put their energy into educating younger bloods to appreciate and love what is theirs.

This could also be another way of promoting reconciliation rather than poisoning the minds of these children with ideologies that are full of hatred and barbarianism. The only way for Rwanda to move forward is to fight for peace through all angles including culture.
