Rwanda eyes E.A Golf Challenge title

RWANDA have confirmed it will take part in this year’s East Africa Golf Challenge to be held in Bujumbura, Burundi from November 5-9.

RWANDA have confirmed it will take part in this year’s East Africa Golf Challenge to be held in Bujumbura, Burundi from November 5-9.The Rwanda Golf Union (RGU) president Andrew Nkwandi confirmed the development yesterday.He said, "The team has already started preparations. They have spent two months preparing at Kigali golf course and they will start residential camp next month.”"The players have played on that course in the past and we hope they will put up a good show as we seek to win the title this year,” added Nkwandi.Some of the players in line to make the final team for the four-day tournament include;  Leonard Nkurunziza, Jules Mutesa, Patrick Uwumukiza, Aphrodis Nyirinkwaya, Paul Uwitonze, Francois Habimana, Joseph Semwaga, Emmanuel Rutayisire, Emmanuel Habineza and Celestin Habineza.Kenya are the defending champions of the championship that was hosted in Arusha, Tanzania last year.Kenya finished with 21 points ahead of hosts Tanzania on 19.5, with Uganda finishing a distant third on 5.5 points. Rwanda were only a half-point behind, on 5, followed by Burundi with 4.5 points.
