The Rwanda Hotel and Restaurant Association (RHRA) may collapse if members do not show commitment and interest, the Chairman of Tourism Chamber at the Private Sector Federation (PSF), Edwin Sabuhoro said.He made the remarks this week during a meeting the association organized to hear from its members on the way forward, based on the poor situation the association is currently facing.Of the 247 hotels and restaurants identified countrywide, less than 25 have fulfilled the requirements as members of the association."The Rwanda Hotel and Restaurant Association is doing very badly. There is need to make sure that you prove you need this association,” Sabuhoro said. To become a full member of the association, hospitality institutions are required to pay Rwf 100, 000 as membership fee, followed by an annual subscription. Hotels are rated and the standard determines how much is paid as annual subscription. The highest, five star hotels, pays Rwf 1.5 million.
