Fast food & Takeaway

Sometimes choosing the right name is all it takes to give your business wings to take off!  This is exactly what Paul Searby, the Canadian who owns Mr. Chips takeaway, thought of before opening this joint. The name of this joint caught my attention although I must confess the location didn’t. After avoiding this ordinary looking fast food joint for a long time, mid this week I stopped over for a cold swallow while waiting for some pals coming from Kanombe. The big number of foreigners (mostly Asians and Europeans) I found there either quietly munching their food or happily chatting while waiting for their orders got me a little curious. "What’s special about this place”,  I asked Alfred the top chef. The eatery is situated at Sonatube next to Rwanda Tourism University College, in a red building painted with Coca-cola logos. The interior is decent enough for you to seat and wait for your order. The building certainly has seen better days and there’s nothing more Mr. Searby can do to make it look better.I ordered for two pieces of chicken wings and chips. The chips thankfully were done well (they don’t peel them, just clean them and leave the outer skin on) and I was also quite relieved to find out that the chicken did not come with that annoying mass of cooking oil. One of my buddies opted for a double cheese burger, chips and a cold bottle of soda for only 4000frw. The other chose a falafel burger and chips with a drink for 2500Frw .Besides having good munchies, their service is also superb compared to other takeaways. If they keep their service, prices and food that way, the sky is the limit for them. The staff; attentive and actually capable of communicating in both French and English The bad points; the place is depressing and no parking spaceThe good points; low price, quality foodtoilets; bad
