Editor,The motorcyclists don’t use the hygienic headgear aimed at protecting passengers from contracting skin related diseases as a result of sharing helmets? Now that’s not patriotic spirit as we all know well that given that motorcycles are one of the very important means of transport in Rwanda, and due to the fact that the operators have proven that it is very difficult to maintain the hygiene and cleanliness of the helmets, given the nature of the motor-taxi business.Use of the hygienic headgear under the helmet seeks to prevent transmission of skin infections and should, therefore, be enforced. It is compulsory for every person riding or a passenger on a motorcycle to wear a head cover under the motorcycle helmet. The headgear must be clean, environmentally friendly and not be used more than once. Let’s support our authorities and trust them because like Kigali City Mayor said, if the Rwanda Utilities and Regulatory Agency (RURA) have determined that the cost of the headgear does not affect the profits, there is no reason why Taxi Moto operators should be adamant.Manzi, Kigali
