NYARUGURU – The National Unity and Reconciliation Commission (NURC) Friday donated a cow to a three-year old orphan whose mother was brutally murdered a fortnight ago. The orphan’s late mother, Jacqueline Mukamanzi, was Rusenge Cell Executive Secretary in Nyaruguru District, Southern Province.
Handing a cow to the orphan’s grandmother, the Executive Secretary of NURC, Fatuma Ndangiza, explained that the cow will provide milk for the orphan.
Mukamanzi died after her ex-husband Evariste Ngenzi bribed assailants to kill her. Neighbours have been blamed for not responding to her cries for help.
Ndangiza urged Rusenge Sector Residents that a culture of unity and reconciliation is the only tool that will heal the divisionism among them.
"The best among God’s commandments is love which the Government also petitions you to conduct through unity and reconciliation,” she said.
She also advised residents to fight such crimes in the area through developing the sprit of patriotism which will drive them to sustainable development.
Félix Nsabimana, Nyaruguru District Mayor says Ngenzi, who was the head teacher at Rusenge Primary School, will be prosecuted soon.
