It’s Fashion Week in New York, and top designers are putting forth their best in show for Spring/Summer 2013. Heavy hitters Ralph Lauren and Calvin Klein have yet to present, but fan favorites Derek Lam and Diane von Furstenburg have impressed while continuing to bring something new to the table. Perhaps the most compelling was Marc Jacobs, who - unsurprisingly - hit it out of the park yet again. Not only has he presented an incredible collection, but this season’s show was believably wearable. Long, complimentary lines created beautiful silhouettes as the models glided down the runway. Perhaps because MJ went against the grain by putting his models almost exclusively in flats - a shout out to women everywhere whose feet have long been aching from those sky-high heels. Shiny, patterned, and fancy, these are perfect for work and play. His pieces, mostly dresses and long pants, were a vision of optical illusions. Geometric patterns in basic colors caused a dizzying yet satisfying effect. It’s as if he took the ever-trendy stripe to a whole new, haute couture level. But really, what did you expect from Mr. Jacobs? He has yet to falter.
