Rwanda’s veteran golfers are in for a tough test today when they take on their junior counterparts in what has been dubbed as a Kigali Golf Club ‘fun event’.
KGC last staged the event back in 2005 when the veterans were crowned champions.
However, that honour will be put to serious test by the juniors who are being led by the trio of Jean Baptiste Hakizimana (Rwanda’s top amateur golfer), new kid on the block Thierry Ntaganda and Jack Kayonga.
KGC captain Rajan Tiwari together with Andrew Nkwandi and Ezra Bunyenyezi spearhead the veterans.
"It’s definitely going to be a colourful event. There are over 40 prizes to be won and we also expect great rivalry on the course,” Tiwari explained.
The event is expected to be one of the most colourful one on this calendar after attracting huge sponsorship.
The sponsors include Computer Point, Sulfo Rwanda, Bralirwa, Kiboko, Tembe industries, KGC, Serena, and FedEx amongst others.
The 18-hole event is expected to tee-off at 8:30am with Stroke-Play as the mode of play.
