THE National Rugby team, the Silverbacks has been invited to take part in the 2012 Safaricom 7s that will take place from September 21 to 23 at Nairobi’s Nyayo Stadium, Kenya.According to vice chairman of Rwanda Rugby Federation, Alex Araire, competing against the best teams in the region and beyond will be a huge opportunity for the national team in terms of gaining experience."The invitation came in sometime back and we have been preparing the team since then, so we hope to go there and make a difference in the competition. They have been doing well in training and I hope they will be ready for the tournament,” noted Araire.He added, "The Safaricon Sevens is a huge tournament, which attracts so many teams from different parts of the world, so we know what to expect and I hope the team will do better this time round.”"We are particularly grateful to be invited for such big tournament, and we will not disappoint,” Araire said.Araire expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Sports and Culture, which contributed Rwf2.3m to the team’s preparations.
