Editor,I was delighted to read an article in the Sunday Times, September, 9, titled " Singaporean youth build ties with Rwandan counterparts.”Today’s youth are the leaders of tomorrow and it is very encouraging to see how a youth organisation in far away Singapore has taken positive steps towards building bridges with this beautiful country – Rwanda.Kudos to SINGAFRICA for a great initiative. Please allow me to also congratulate Jeanine Kambanda, High Commissioner of Rwanda to Singapore, for having organised an excellent cultural night which was attended by over 400 guests. This event, which is slated to become an annual feature, will definitely stimulate Rwanda’s economic development through art and culture.Let me add, that Rwandan youth studying in India are also extremely pro-active and always ready to promote their country’s rich culture through song and dance. Their student leader from Bangalore , Robert Manzi, will lead a five-member dance troupe all the way to Mumbai, later this month, where they will perform at an international event, World Tourism Day 2012, organised by the Indian Merchants’ Chamber, a Premier Chamber of Commerce and Industry. With broad guidelines provided by the Government of Rwanda and the necessary inputs given by the Ministry of Youth and ICT, as well as the Rwandan Missions throughout the world, the youth of this great nation will continue to be shining examples to one and all!Clarence Fernandes
