RELIABLE sources have confirmed that Rayon Sports are interested in signing US$20,000 rated Uganda Revenue Authority striker Robert Ssentongo. The 26-year old was Uganda Super League top scorer last season, and was also named the player of the year. However, the pint-sized forward’s valuation could be the major stumbling block to a move that would see Uganda Cranes main striker ply in the Primus National Football League next season."Rayon want him but I don’t think they can afford his price. Ssentongo is probably the best striker in this region, his record speaks for itself, so any club that wish to sign him, would have to pay a good price for URA to release him,” said the source, who did not want to be named because he is not allowed to speak on behalf of the club. The source added, "He can add not only goals but his experience to the team. It is a difficult situation because of URA’s valuation, but Rayon are trying their best to get him.” URA value their star asset at between US$20,000 and US$30,000 and are ready to listen to potential buyers. According to the source, both clubs are in talks. Rayon Sports Secretary General Olivier Gakwaya was quick to refute the reports, but without giving much away.He said, "I don’t know about that, but if anything comes up, we shall let you know.”The Blues are also reported to be in discussion with Mukura striker Jean de Dieu Harorarimana, who scored five goals last season.Meanwhile, Abdu Mbarushimana and Ali Bizimungu will lead Rayon in the next season, according to Gakwaya.Gakwaya said that the two coaches will lead the team but he did not say who of the two will be the head coach.Bizimungu was Jean Marie Ntagwabira’s assistant last season. "They are working with the team but we will announce the head coach (between them) before the season starts,” said Gakwaya.
