I don’t know about you but I have an airtime vendor and motorist who bail me out when I am hard on cash. I don’t borrow money from them but sometimes they render their services to me on credit. My motorist friend will happily give me a ride to work even when I’m penniless as long as I promise to give him his money on a particular date. I call my airtime vendor friend to send me credit when I don’t have enough to buy a card and he does so knowing he’ll be compensated. I have built a certain level of trust and friendship with these guys so it’s not hard getting them to do little favors for me once in a while. In fact, these are the people I just can’t help but happily give a tip. These people can really bail you out at a point when you need help and your colleagues or friends are as bleak as you are. However, some people take advantage of this kindness and rip them off.Aaron Kananura, a waiter at a restaurant in Kimihurura, is one of the victims of this cruel and inconsiderate behavior. "We have this system whereby people have meals and pay at the end of the month. We write down how much they owe and are supposed to pay monthly but most of them don’t. They actually hide whenever the month ends,” he said.Kananura added that most of the people rip him off and refuse to pay up. At the end of the day, his boss gets mad at him for falling to get these people to pay.Seriously where is the ‘Agaciro’ we are always making noise about? How does one rip off someone kind enough to take such a risk every day, trusting that they’ll be paid when the month ends? It’s not fair to take advantage of the people who help you out and whose help you will certainly need another time.I am very certain such people pay their bills for rent simply because they know the landlord/lady can easily throw them out if they don’t.They also take advantage of others because they know these people can’t do anything about it - or so they think. Please accord these people some respect because they risk their jobs and also have bills to pay just like you. Pay what you owe, even to those who do not have the power to forcefully make you.
