Tanzanian President Jakaya Kikwete met with visiting Chinese Vice Premier Hui Liangyu here Wednesday on time-honored friendship and cooperation between the two countries.Hui conveyed to President Kikwete warm greetings and good wishes from his Chinese counterpart Hu Jintao, praising him as an old friend of China who has made an important contribution to the friendship between China and Tanzania and between China and Africa.Bilateral relations have been developing steadily since the two countries established diplomatic ties 48 years ago with joint efforts and care of leaders of both countries, which are seeing fresh development in their ties in the new era, Hui said.The Chinese vice premier stressed that the Sino-Tanzanian relations have endured the text of changes in international affairs, in which the two countries support each other on important issues including their core interests.China and Tanzania enjoy all-weather partnership characterized by close cooperation in international affairs and pragmatic cooperation in all other fields, he added.As a friend of Tanzania, China is pleased to see its rapid economic development, Hui said, wishing the African country success in fulfilling its first five-year plan and promoting its economic and social developments.He called for joint efforts to materialize the results of the recent Fifth Ministerial Conference of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in Beijing.China is encouraging Chinese investment in Tanzania, hoping to expand bilateral exchanges and cooperation and contribute further to the development in the African country, Hui said.
