MUHANGA — François Uhagaze has been appointed as the new Executive Secretary of Nyamabuye sector in Muhanga district.

Uhagaze who spent six months before being confirmed, was previously the executive secretary of Cyeza sector. He officially assumed the new office on May 22 at Muhanga stadium, replacing David Dushimimana, who was made the district lands officer. Hundreds of residents turned up to witness the official handover ceremony.

The soft spoken leader is expected to use his experience of Cyeza sector to uplift the economic status of residents, address issues of insecurity, idleness and increased crime in Gitarama town.

Addressing residents, Uhagaze promised to address key issues facing the sector and urged cooperation between residents and leaders.

"The issues of priority include problems of fighting genocide ideology, increased crimes, and promoting developmental activities among residents. This needs the full cooperation of residents and other leaders in reaching out to each community,” Uhagaze said.

He added that active leadership roles are needed to have an impact in the community. He added, he would utilise opinion leaders, cultural groups (Itorero) and security organs to contain crimes.

On development, Uhagaze said there was need to have a decent settlement plan, increased efforts on taxation and improved attitudes towards work among residents.
