HERMAS Cliff Muvuny will revive his chase for silverware when he starts his campaign in the Men’s 800m T46 preliminary round of the Paralympic Games this morning at the Olympic stadium.Muvunyi missed out on clinching his first medal in the 400m T46 when he finished fifth, albeit breaking his own African record in the men’s 400m final on Tuesday.Earlier in the day, he led an overall preliminary round standing to reach the final by clocking 49.75. However, he failed to maintain his brilliant display when he clocked 49.59 to finish one second and 14 micro seconds behind Austria’s Gunther Matzinger, who won gold in the tight race. He stumbled and almost fell giving a chance to Brazil’s Nascimento Yohansson to grab silver in a time of 49.21 while Uggl Dena Pathirannehelag of Sri Lanka landed for bronze in a time of 49.28.The APR athlete is expected to start another medal quest in the 800m at 11.30am local time. "Muvunyi missed out on the medal bracket but we have regrouped and he is in good shape of mind to revive his chances of winning the only medal for Rwanda in the Games,” Muvunyi’s coach Karasira.Muvunyi, a silver medalist at last year’s All Africa Games in a time of 1:57:70, competes in the preliminary round today and, if he qualifies, he will run in the finals due on September 8 at 22.00 hours.
