National career Rwandair in partnership with Rwandan’s High Commission in South Africa last week showcased the country as a business and tourism destination in East Africa at a function organised by the Serena Hotel Group in Sandton, Johannesburg. The event organised under the theme "Airline and Country” attracted more than 200 travel industry personnel from major hotel chains, travel agencies, airlines and car rental companies who had a taste of Rwanda’s premier coffee brands such as Amaraba and Kinunu coffee. "I commend Rwandair team led by Mrs Kanana Kau for the demonstrated passion and the quality work they perform therefore giving Rwandair high visibility in South Africa” says the High Commissioner, Vincent Karega. Kanana Kau is the airline’s Country Manager in South Africa. In her remarks, Kau said the event was aimed at showcasing Rwandair to the travel industry as the preferred airline into East Africa for both tourism and business travel with convenient flights from Johannesburg using Kigali as a hub to many other destinations.Rwandair is soon to take delivery of two new CRJ-900 aircraft manufactured by Canadian manufacturer Bombardier. The additional aircraft would enable the airline to add to its fleet thereby permitting further routes and more frequent flights to its existing network. The chief executive officer of Rwandair, John Mirenge, said the development implies additional destinations and convenience for the travellers who expect modern aircraft and the best service.
