Femininity at the workplace

I’ve noticed that lots of business women in Kigali fall prey to boring, drab clothes at the workplace. Why is this? Our appearance should match our demeanors – bold, adept, and smart! There is no need to prove we are as capable as men in the workplace; Rwanda is full of powerful women who have been doing so since the dawn of time.

Remember this and don’t hide your femininity in order to be taken seriously. You can do this without compromising professionalism.Instead of ill-fitting suits, try a pencil skirt. This classic staple is professional and modest, but ladylike and becoming. It’s also flattering on any figure! It’s hard wearing heels in Kigali with uneven sidewalks, dirt roads, moto rides and crammed buses. Instead of clunky loafers, try a kitten heel or a pointy flat. Your feet won’t ache at the end of the day, and you’ll feel attractive from 9 to 5!Lastly, simple on top works best. Avoid the excessively frilly or complicated patterns. Solid colors and basic lines are your best bet, and most comfortable.
