The 2012 edition started on August 29 and runs until September 2.Team Rwanda finished a disappointing 16th out of 18 teams on the first day, which started from Rio de Janeiro to Angras dos Reis and the cyclists covered a distance of 152 km. Having finished 14th last year, the Rwandan team, which is aiming to finish in the top ten this time round, clocked 41’42”. Day one was won by Argentina’s Real Cycling Team. Simon Edgardo led Real Cycling Team to the first day victory and was followed by Italian David Gomirato of Petrol-Firenze Cycling Team.Hadi Janvier was Team Rwanda’s best finisher in the 58th position. Team captain Nathan Byukusenge finished 67th.
