Editor, I wish to commend all Rwandans for their commitment to developing their country. Like the President pointed out (on Monday, during a visit to Gicumbi District), if all Rwandans put their heads together, we can eliminate poverty.
Editor,I wish to commend all Rwandans for their commitment to developing their country. Like the President pointed out (on Monday, during a visit to Gicumbi District), if all Rwandans put their heads together, we can eliminate poverty. Over the last 18 years, a lot has been achieved. The economy has transformed, and enrolment in schools has doubled. Universities have produced thousands of graduates. Government’s programmes like the One-Cow-Per -Family have yielded wonderful results. However, there is no room for complacence. As Rwandans, we have a duty to support government development programmes.Nathan Rwego, Kayonza ----------------------------------------Editor,I totally agree with the President that if we keep the momentum exhibited in the last 18 years, poverty can significantly be reduced. According to a survey of integrated Household Living Conditions released recently, poverty in the country dropped by 11.8 per cent since 2006, a reduction rate six times faster than what the country achieved between 2000 and 2006. What this tells us is one thing – that all is possible. We need to keep the momentum.Enid Bateta, Nyamata
