The Minister of Youth and ICT, Jean Philbert Nsengimana, has urged the youth to embrace ICT in order to fast track the county’s development programmes. The minister made the call at Knowledge laboratory (Klab) while meeting youth of Kigali Global Hub (KGH) at Telecom House at a meeting aimed at empowering the youth through the spread of ideas, engaging in dialogue and cross-mentoring with leaders. The meeting was held under the theme; "iRwandans: How Are We Using Tech?” Nzengimana used the opportunity to assure the youth that ICT was helpful for the country to realise its development targets. "ICT helps both rural and urban areas to develop; there are various ways through which people can access services easily, the problem is how people are embracing ICT.”"Research has revealed that ICT speeds up social and economic development and people, especially the youth, should use it properly to accelerate development.” According to the hub’s founder, Diana Mpyisi, the hub is self funded but called for government’s support. "We choose an important topic, and this moment we chose ICT because we wanted to know the link between ICT and the youth, we always have various topics,” said Mpyisi."We also wanted to show that ICT can help in other issues like business and we invited the speaker from the fashion industry to show how ICT has been helpful.”
