Benin’s defender Khaled Adenon has been banned for one year by for assaulting the Ethiopian referee Bamlak Tessema Weysa when Rwanda hosted Benin during the 2014 World Cup qualifying match on June 10 in Kigali.The 27-year old defender was so angry when Tessema awarded a late penalty with five minutes to go which was converted by Bokota Labama, who had been fouled inside the box, thus forcing the game to erupt into nasty scenes.Adenon was so angry with the decision that he attacked the Ethiopian referee who had no option but to send him off. It needed Police intervention to stop the ugly scene from escalating further.The suspension includes all national and international games meaning the player will not be able to play for his club, which said it would assist Adenon to file for an appeal as well as defending his interest at the club."Le Mans will also defend its interests in order not to suffer prejudice of a sanction from an international match that does not directly concern the club,” the management said in a statement.Adenon began his senior career in Ivory Coast at Asec Mimosas from 2005 to 2007 before leaving for France to join Le Mans in 2008.
