AS the national U-17 team continues with their preparations ahead of warm up matches against Nigeria on August 31 and September 2, head coach Richard Tardy admits the team needs time to become good. The junior wasps lost their first friendly match against La Jeunesse at Amahoro stadium for 3-1 before drawing 2-2 with SC Kiyovu. "I have hope in the players as they’re improving everyday, and I believe they can only get better with time, but it takes time, which calls for patience,” said Tardy."They need time and I hope the more games they play the better they will become including the game against a very good Nigeria side,” the Frenchman noted.Tardy is preparing his young troops for the forthcoming two high profile friendly matches against Nigeria, which will be played in Calabar. The matches are part of Rwanda’s preparation for the 2013 African Youth Championships qualifier October against the winner between Botswana and Mali.If Tardy’s team wins that match it will next face the winner between Sudan/Somali and Algeria in the next round. He noted, "We want to do everything possible to reach the finals of the competition which will take place in Morocco. That is why we started preparing early enough in order to perfect our game.” For the first time, Rwanda played at last year’s finals of U-17 FIfa World Cup held in Mexico.Meanwhile, Coventry teenage striker Seff Murenzi has earned a call-up to the Amavubi U17 squad. He joins the camp along with defender Pacifique Shema, who plays for French third division side Orléans.
