APR has remained unfazed despite Sunday’s loss in the revamped Coca-Cola league.

The reigning champions who had claimed the first three phases were toppled by Kigali Volleyball Club 2-3 in a thrilling final that went as far as the fifth set.

And although Jean Marie Nsengiyumva (KVC coach) believes that Sunday’s win could bring about a new twist in the league, APR’s Jean Luc Ndayikengurukiye has laughed him off saying that this is only a myth.

"My boys gave KVC a good run for their money because even without our frontline players (Yakan Lawrence and Jean Luc Mbonyuwontuma), we pushed KVC to the edge which clearly shows the potential of this side," Ndayikengurukiye who jointly served as the APR and national team captain before retiring early this year said.

KVC’s win reduced APR’s lead to 45 points and with four phases to go, Nsengiyumva believes anything is possible.

"Our win kept the title race open. It also upped our confidence," Nsengiyumva reckoned.

KVC who were undisputable in the 90s have not won a league title since 2003 but Nsengiyumva believes this could be the year to break that jinx.

In 2007, KVC came third in the league after APR and Rwanda National University.
