Agaciro Fund is the way to go

Agaciro Development Fund (AgDF) was launched, on Thursday. The NewTimes File.

Editor,I love Rwanda and Rwandans. Rwanda never runs out of developmental ideas. Nowhere on the continent has anybody thought that nationals can come up with a voluntary fund to propel their country forward. We all wait for the Americans, Europeans or Chinese to do exactly that; raise voluntary money from their nationals or foundations to give us for free, while we slumber! Why can’t we donate for our own development? Are we unable or we have just been brain washed? Even God helps those who help themselves. Imagine if this idea spread across the East African region. I did calculations and found that at $20 per person per year, 300 million people would raise $6 billionThen if Rwanda’s zero tolerance to corruption in East African is embraced, the total goes up by another $3 billion. Imagine the pride if people from East Africa financed projects like the Mombasa–Dar es Salaam–Kigali–Bujumbura railway and oil pipeline, mass irrigation in northern Kenya, Bugesera airport, six lane road Mombasa–Nairobi–Kampala–Kigali–Bujumbura, the Rusumo hydro power dam, etc! These are dreams today but I get crushed with envy whenever I am on the interstate roads, the airports and waterways in the USA. President Paul Kagame, you are my President come East African political federation. I promise.  Rwandans, you make us proud.(Reaction to story published yesterday about Agaciro fund being launched - Editor)
