LONDON – Arsene Wenger has claimed his Arsenal side are better equipped to challenge for trophies this season than they were last term - even after the sales of Robin van Persie and Alex Song.Arsenal fans bemused by the latest departures of star names will hardly be comforted by Wenger’s insistence that he does not need to add to his squad in the final days of the transfer window, as he insists he has enough quality at his disposal to challenge for honours."What happened to us a year ago was very different to the situation we find ourselves in now and we are far better prepared this time,” Wenger said."We prepared for Van Persie to leave and recruited early with Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud and we have added to that strength with Santi Carzola. I believe we have a much stronger squad now than we had a year ago and that is why I was comfortable with the decision to let Song go."I have many options in midfield and feel we are well covered. We may also bring one more into the squad in this position.”
