A high-powered delegation led by Prime Minister, Bernard Makuza is visiting Mainz City in Germany to cement relations between the German city and Rwanda.
Mainz City, which has a working cooperation with Kigali City Council (KCC), is one the major cities in the Rhineland Palatinate in the Federal Republic of Germany.
Makuza’s entourage include the Minister of Local Government, Social Welfare and Good Governance Protais Musoni, the Minister of Lands, Environment, Forestry and Mines, Christophe Bazivamo and the Governor of the Northern Province, Boniface Rucagu.
They left on Tuesday.
The prime minister’s delegation will attend celebrations to mark 25 years of relations between Rwanda and the Rhineland Palatinate due tomorrow.
Robert Masozera, the Communication Director in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that the visit was meant to reciprocate on what the people of Germany have done in Rwanda.
Makuza will hold talks with the Minister-President of Rhineland Palatinate, Kurt Beck, among other officials of the province.
They are expected to discuss business opportunities that Rwanda has to offer, environment and waste management, Masozera said.
The delegation will also join Germans to celebrate jumelage cooperation between Rwanda and Rhineland Palatinate spanning to quarter a century.
In June, Rwanda marked the 25-year-old celebrations at a function that was also used to inaugurate Africa’s biggest solar energy plant built by Rhineland Palatinate.
Recently, a Germany delegation led by Mayor of Mainz City, Jens Beutel, signed a memorandum of understanding with KCC aimed at strengthening the cooperation between the two cities.
