Editor,I wish to respond to a story that was published in The NewTimes, August, 20, titled "Over 780 Genocide widows lack shelter”. Indeed, many widows need moral and financial support. While the government has showed commitment in addressing the issue of vulnerable elderly widows in the country, all Rwandans have the responsibility to extend a helping hand to these people. The government cannot do it alone. It is also sad to read in the newspapers stories about mismanagement of FARG funds. The construction firms contracted to build survivors’ houses did a shoddy job! This must stop. It’s time for the governement to take full control and force those who mismanaged FARG funds in the past to account for it. Being a member of IBUKA does not mean that one cannot mismanage the funds meant for the survivors. Trust does work when it comes to matters related to money.Karim Bebe Kigali
