Another season of fasting in the Islamic faith came to a close on Saturday. The holy month of Ramadhan has immense spiritual significance to the Muslim brothers and sisters as one of the pillars of Islamic faith for which they must respect to.Islam teachings such as discipline, healthy living and support to the vulnerable  are prominent especially during the month of Ramadhan. This, however, should not end with the fasting period, but continue through their daily lives all year round. The Islamic faith like other religions recognizes the responsibilities of citizens towards their country, we should therefore meet our responsibility to the nation since without an organized country, it becomes hard to practice our faiths. At the Eid prayers yesterday, Muslims leaders prayed for the nation, especially for its leaders. The act of spirituality and nationalism should continue all the time.We believe that the spiritual renewal that comes with the fasting month will have a positive impact on the people and the country. There is a lot to learn from Islam and its teachings.  As other faiths join the Muslim community in celebrating Eid, let’s take time to appreciate the freedom of worship Rwandans enjoy.
