Editor,I read in The New Times recently that the government was trying its best to promote the reading culture among Rwandans, and that the Ministry of Education had launched the Rwanda Reads Initiative (RRI) a platform to cater for the public’s reading needs.Reading is a very important language skill because of the benefits an individual or community can obtain. Indeed, parents and teachers have a duty to keep encouraging children and students so that the young generation realises the benefits of reading. It is common knowledge that reading stimulates people to be creative and innovative. Innovation results from the combination of ideas and concepts. The more we read, the more ideas and concepts come to mind.Saul MunyakaziKigali
