I wish to comment on a story that appeared in The New Times of August, 10, titled "Survivors petition UN over lead expert on Congo”.Is this petition online? I and many of my friends would like to add our names in support of Genocide survivors. It makes absolutely no sense that Steve Hege is the coordinator of the Group of Experts on the DRC given the fact that he is a supporter of the Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda (FDLR) – the militia largely responsible for the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.What was the UN thinking when they appointed him to this position? A thorough investigation into the UN and its policies in the DRC is crucial and must be done immediately. It is a matter of life and death.Marie CollinsCanada
