YOUTHFUL side La Jeunesse have set bigger ambitions for the upcoming season where they are targeting to at least finish inside the top five of Rwanda’s premier football league.Last season, the Nyamirambo-based outfit finished ninth out of 13 teams with 29 points. The club, which is sponsored by a local mining company Euro Trade International, recruited last season’s coach of the year Godfrey Okoko from Mukura to revive their ambitions next season.Okoko, put pen to paper on a two-year contract told Times Sport, "We launched our campaign (pre-season training) for next season early this month.” "The idea was to start preparations for next season early stage enough. It’s going to be a long and hard season for us, so we need to make sure we’re ready for it,” he said yesterday.Okoko has so far signed goalkeeper Fredy Illunga from AS Kigali, defender Onyango Ombeni from SC Kiyovu, midfielder Guillan Garamosa from AS Kigali and Khalid Nshimiyimana from Musanze to boost his team’s ambitions.La Jeunesse beat SC Kiyovu 3-2 last week in their first pre-season friendly match and are expected to face the Amavubi U-17 side this Saturday. The club manager Jean Marie Kalisa, in a separate interview said they are willing to spend so that the club can achieve its targets next season."Our target is to finish among the top five and we are ready to ensure that this dream is accomplished,” stated Kalisa.Euro Trade International’s sponsorship has helped La Jeunesse boost their main principle of promoting the young Rwandan players.
