Avoid dry, lifeless hair by moisturising it

If your hair seems to be waking up on the wrong side of the bed a lot lately, it may be time to moisturize it. Synthetic moisturizers can wreak havoc on your hair, sometimes doing more harm than good, but moisturizing with natural essential oils can help restore moisture balance to your scalp, reduce dandruff and transform your locks from drab to fab.

If your hair seems to be waking up on the wrong side of the bed a lot lately, it may be time to moisturize it. Synthetic moisturizers can wreak havoc on your hair, sometimes doing more harm than good, but moisturizing with natural essential oils can help restore moisture balance to your scalp, reduce dandruff and transform your locks from drab to fab.Peace Uwera, a saloon owner in Kanombe, recommends the following moisturizers owing to her experience in the area. Rosemary: Rosemary not only tastes great, but it’s good for your hair as well. Rosemary oil is included in many products to treat hair loss as it can help stimulate cellular metabolism to jump start new hair growth. Jojoba: Jojoba oil is deep-cleansing and restorative oil when used to condition your hair. The oil helps moisturize, soften and strengthen dry or damaged hair to add shine without leaving an oily residue. When massaged into the scalp, jojoba oil helps clean excess sebum from the hair follicles.Ylang Ylang: If your scalp’s balance is out of whack, ylang-ylang oil is your answer. This essential oil helps balance the natural oil production in the skin of your scalp to help counteract overly dry or oily hair. The oil is thought to increase the thickness of each hair shaft for thicker, more fabulous locks. As an added bonus, the aroma of ylang-ylang may help reduce stress levels to help you chill out.Sage: Hormonal changes, whether from your period or menopause, mess with your hair as well as your head. Clary sage essential oil is used to balance the estrogen levels in the skin of your scalp, while other sage varieties are thought to balance scalp oils and stimulate hair growth. It is particularly useful for older women.
