RWANDA’s top professional golfer Emmanuel Ruterana defied odds to finish fourth in this year’s KCB Grand Finale golf tournament which ended over the weekend at the par-71 Nyali Golf and Country Club.Ruterana remained consistent over the first three days before faltering on the fourth day were he registered a poor 76 which gave him a four rounds total of 290.He and the rest of what was a strong field found the winner Nicholas Rokoine a hard nut to crack.Ruterana said yesterday upon his return from Mombasa, "The course, because of strong winds, was so challenging, I had to use more energy to try and win but it was not possible.” "I am happy with the fourth place finish because this is a good achievement for me. The experience I have gained from this tournament will make me stronger for the next tournaments,” added Ruterana, who received a cash prize worth Kshs.215,000 (approx Rwf1.5m).Muthaiga’s Rokoine recovered from a slow start to claim his maiden victory of the KCB East Africa Golf Tour grand finale.Ruterana will now have to rest for a few weeks before heading to Kampala for Uganda Open tournament. His compatriot Jean Baptiste Hakizimana had a poor tournament, finishing in 19th position.
