 TEARS OF A CHILD

I will ask questions Because I need answers I need solutionsI fear the terrifying terrorI fear the horrifying horrorPapa shall there be a time When motions shall be acts Emotions shall be responsesThe moon shall beam And the noon shall burnMama shall there be a time When school shall be a priorityA time when my home work is done by six in the eveningA time when I am at school earlyThe time when I will wake up and breakfast is on the tableEvery morning I wake up at 5 o’clockOnly to get down to my morning choresWashing dishes and scrubbing the floor, changing the babyAnd preparing my young sister for schoolAt school I get the first lesson startedThe teacher punishes me for my late comingMy stomach rumbles and crumbles for I had no time to eat my meager break fastI am half sleepy and half attentive for Burning the mid night candle doing this and thatNow tell me shall there be a time? The weekend comes with a lot of activitiesBare foot I walk through dew grass Heading to the corn field to workI work to pay for my school needsIf not enough I am battered and clobbered Can someone tell me if there’ll be a time When I will wake up from this nightmare?I long for that time A time when I shall be a girl A time when I shall be a boyRespectable, acceptable, likeable and palatablePlease papa, please mama shall there be a time?
