Editor, There are several NGOs operating in Rwanda. But I don’t think the majority are doing what they are supposed to do.
Editor,There are several NGOs operating in Rwanda. But I don’t think the majority are doing what they are supposed to do. Some NGOs get funds from donors to help the poor but divert the money for their own enrichment. We have heard sad tales from widows and orphans whose names are always used to solicit funds. When you go to court, you find several cases over alleged mismanagement of NGOs’ funds by top managers. I understand the Ministry of Local Government and the Directorate of Immigration and Emigration are the ones in charge of monitoring these NGOs. Well, they have tried to hold these people accountable but a lot more needs to be done. They need to talk to the beneficiaries always to know whether they are being helped. Otherwise, they will keep cheating innocent Rwandans.Justin Kanamugire Kigali
