National football team’s head coach Tucak Blanko has rapped the team’s performance against Sudan saying that the team needs to improve ahead of the world cup and Africa nation’s qualifiers that kick-off at the end of May.

Speaking to the press after the team’s elimination from the Africa Nations Championship by Sudan over the weekend, Blanko said that despite playing to a 1-all draw against Sudan, he is disgruntled with the current performance.

"Something must be done to improve this performance. We played better, did not lose our balls any how one single blunder denied us maximum points," "This is a poor start to my career in Rwanda but I think with time, this poor performance will be overturned," Blanko said.

Blanko further added that it’s good he has seen and noticed some good talents within the team and these are the players that will bring positive results.

"It’s good that new players like James Uwimana and Peter Kagabo are on board. There are several other players who am yet to see that will also come on board too to beef up the team’s winning track," Blanko said.

Rwanda bowed out of the inaugural Africa Nations Championship on 1-5 goals aggregate.

Amavubi team needed to score five-goal goals to make it into the next phase of the competition reserved for home-based players.

Elias Uzamukunda scored for the Wasps as Ndoli failed to clear a back pass, gifting a goal to the visitors in the process .

Rwanda had lost 0-4 in the first leg played in Sudan a fort night ago. Elsewhere, Uganda’s Cranes bid farewell to the newest competition on the African football calendar after settling for a one all draw with Tanzania in Kampala.

Geoffrey Sserunkuma gave the Cranes the lead after seven minutes before Athumani Iddi leveled up for Taifa Stars a minute from half time.

Tanzania qualifies to the next stage through 3-1 on aggregate.. Sudan will face Tanzania in the second round matches scheduled for May 16-18, where the finals in Cote d’Ivoire run from February 22 to March 8, next year. Ghana’s Black Stars were held to a 2-2 draw by their Togolese counterparts.

The Hawks that honored the second leg in Accra due to a ban imposed on them last year, have been eliminated while the Black Stars progress to the final round of the qualifying rounds on a 4-2 aggregate.

Ghana will meet the winner of Burkina Faso and Nigeria clash which was set for Sunday by press time in the Zone West B slot.
