There have been a number of debates on whether Rwanda as ‘an inferior ‘economic power, is going to benefit from the EAC or not.

The way I see it is that, debating about it at this level is not important as much of the whole, will be circumstantial.

Some similar bodies in Africa have had real little economic impact to member countries mainly because whatever is said or promised is not fulfilled. Look at ECOMOG, COMESA SADC, and etcetera. They have achieved very little compared to general goals set and EA cannot be special.

So the excitements over benefits from EAC, should not take so much of our time because even long time members have not benefited a lot from it. Let us continue working hard as Rwandans and wait to see how events unfold. We have elected members of EA Parliament and we shall continue to give our hand as desired.
