SOUTHERN PROVINCE

MUHANGA The police in Nyamabuye, Muhanga district is holding a man who allegedly defiled his own daughter.

Théoneste Musabyimana, of Kagitarama village, also the president of the Association of Orphan-head-households (AOCM) in Muhanga was arrested last week.

Sources say Musabyimana was caught red-handed by his concubine called Mahoro having sex with his 13-year old child. The man has been staying with the daughter separately without his wife. The wife stays in Kibuye. The concubine however had concealed the incident on condition that Musabyimana takes her over as second wife.

On learning that Musabyimana would not marry her, Mahoro chose to spill the beans by reporting the matter to police and the girl’s mother.

A number f children in the area lined up to pin Musabyimana during a police interrogation.

Police sources however, say Musabyimana denied the charges, saying it was a planned move by four genocide orphans in the area who were recently arrested for obtaining Frw2.5 million by false pretence from the National Unity and Reconciliation Commission.

Musabyimana claims the children tramped up the charges in vengeance because he led to their arrest. But complainants insist the defilement case has nothing to do with the conflicts with orphans.

The police are still investigating the case. However, medical reports indicate that there was penetration with the said victim.
