The Kitchen is one area that most women love. It is that place where you spend hours preparing sumptuous and healthy meals for your family. A place where cleanliness is a must and everything should be in order.I remember when growing up going to the villages over the holidays; my grandmother’s kitchen was always neatly arranged. Even though her kitchen was grass thatched, where she used the old method of cooking – fire wood stove-her kitchen was always in order.Since most women today are busy working at the same time raising a family, putting the house in order can be an uphill task. One of those places that one takes for granted is the kitchen. Personally, I make it my business to know where each and every item in my house is placed. When my house helps are on leave, it is easy for me to locate anything I want, especially in the kitchen. With a few steps, you can arrange your kitchen to look neat and tidy.Keep what you need

Anything that takes up space in your kitchen and you do not need, should be tossed out or given to somebody who has use for the item. Also, replace things that don’t work. If your toaster in not in order and you still need it, take it for repair instead of just keeping it.Shelves and cabinets

Every person knows the items they use the most, take note and keep them in the nearest drawer or cabinet. Infrequently used items should go on high shelves or in the back of the cabinets so as to ease congestion and make it easy for you to get anything easily.Storage room

Foods stored in the storage room or in the freezers should be regularly checked. It is not enough to go shopping come and dump things in the freezer and let your house girl take charge, some of these girls can be careless. Once a week, check nothing is rotting to make sure you do not eat food which has gone bad.Food preparation area

Cutting board, knives, measuring cups and spoons, and mixing bowls should be kept close to this area. Whereas cooking pots, pans, pot holders, spoons and spatulas should be placed near the cooking stove. For people who love baking, you might find it handy to store your flour, sugar, baking powder, a set of measuring cups and spoons, your favorite mixing bowl, etc. together in one convenient spot for ease of reach.Dining table

Some families have their dining table in the kitchen; if it is so, then things like salt shakers, sugar, chili bowl, and even toothpicks can all be kept on the dining table in a small open basket. If the dining area is in the living rooms, these things are best kept in a cabinet in the kitchen.Cleaning area

Soap, gloves, dish pan, drying rack, cleansers, towels, etc. should all be kept near the sink, where the cleaning takes place.Waste disposal

Keep a trash can in the corner of your kitchen and make sure to separate recycling and compost bins separately, it is more efficient this way.Counter top

Counter top is one place in the kitchen being misused. Most often than not you will find things which are not of use at that particular time lying around, make a point of reducing them. The counter needs frequent cleaning since it is your primary workspace.

Find another place for those small things and anything else that doesn’t absolutely need to live there.Anything else that does not belong to the kitchen should not be found there. A well-organized kitchen makes your work easy, the place looks neat- but above all- you will enjoy preparing meals in your more organized kitchen.
