Nyarugenge Intermediate Court today acquitted the Ministry of Local Government Permanent Secretary, Cyrille Turatsinze, and his co-accused Rene Rwego Harelimana of corruption charges.
Nyarugenge Intermediate Court today acquitted the Ministry of Local Government Permanent Secretary, Cyrille Turatsinze, and his co-accused Rene Rwego Harelimana of corruption charges.It ordered for their immediate release.Court said that prosecution failed to prove beyond doubt that Turatsinze solicited for a bribe, and that he had sent Rwego topick the alleged kickback from a businessman, on his behalf.Turatsinze was arrested on July 21 for allegedly soliciting a bribe of Rwf2 million from a businessman only identified as Nshimiyimana, whom he allegedly helped win a tender to supply the ministry with IT equipment.He was arraigned in court together with his co-accused, Rwego Harelimana, who implicated him after the latter was caught red-handed with Rwf500, 000.
