The Police have detained 20 burglars over theft of several electronics in different suburbs of Kigali City.The suspects, who are currently held at Kicukiro Police Station, were arrested in separate security swoops along with the buyers of the stolen items.Police recovered items, including flat screens and laptops.One of the suspects confessed he would connive with domestic workers to get keys for the homesteads which he had targeted."House helpers or gate keepers are the ones we used to help us get access to the house, they gave us the whole information needed concerning the property inside the house,” the suspect (names withheld) said. He was reportedly arrested with three flat screens.Another 32-year-old suspect, who would facilitate in transporting stolen goods, said he would do the work mostly at night."I would be called by the dealers (suspected burglars) requesting me to transport goods to Nyamirambo suburb mostly, but I had no idea they were stolen items,” he narrated.Police Spokesperson Supt Theos Badege attributed the arrests to the community involvement in alerting police."I call on the public to always mind about the people they live with in their respective communities, for instance in case you see someone drinking all day yet they have no job or business you should be suspicious,” Badege said.It was said that most of the burglars break into people’s houses at night.
