Editor,I wish to cast my support behind the Armed Forces Shop (AFOS) project. A few weeks ago, the Minister of Defence, James Kabarebe, was in parliament allaying lawmakers’ fears that the proposed shop might be abused.MPs had wanted to know what measures would be taken to avoid the possibility of fraud. The Rwandan military is a well disciplined force and I know members of armed forces have capacity to protect what legally belongs to them. I also understand that police personnel will also benefit from the facility.The idea is great and I have no qualms it will work out and serve the intended purpose. I would request that Local Defense Force also be included on the list of the beneficiaries since they are also involved in consolidating security with little income.Indeed, our security forces need to buy products at subsidized prices considering their pay and significance to the nation.
