The Rwanda Governance Board (RGB)’s is co-hosting an international conference on Democratic Governance: Challenges in Africa and Asia; which starts today in Philadelphia in the United States of America. The two-day forum is organised by RGB in partnership with the Rwandan Embassy and Cheney University.According to organisers, the conference aims to bring together an international group of scholars and practitioners from a wide range of disciplines to explore solutions to challenges facing democratic governance globally. The conference will also highlight and suggest strategies geared toward solving a variety of governance problems like corruption, bad governance practices among others.Prof. Anastase Shyaka, the Chief Executive Officer of RGB, said "building synergies and sharing best experiences is a key to promoting good governance in all nations of the world, and Rwanda has a lot to share with other countries”."We are looking forward to consolidate our achievements through learning from our peers’ experiences and lessons.”The US conference comes barely months after another international conference on Governance and Democracy, an African Perspective was held in Kigali in June.Shyaka is expected to deliver a key note speech on "Rwanda’s model of governance” where he will highlight the country’s success story in good governance and democracy. At the conference, participants will deliberate to move from theoretical policies to practical strategies towards building democratic institutions, improving governance processes, and curbing corruption in their respective nations.Participants include government officials, members of academia, media, ICT industry and the justice sector.RGB will have the opportunity to share the outcomes of the recently concluded International Conference on Governance and Democracy through an exhibition space at the conference and various presentations. It will also use the conference as a platform to unveil its studies and publications, and present other governance materials as well as build networks with a wide range of stakeholders from USA and beyond.
