The National Cycling team will enter camp next week to start preparing for the Tour of Roi scheduled for August 29 to September 2 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.According to Rwanda Cycling Federation Secretary General Emmanuel Murenzi, the six man team is currently doing non residential training but will enter camp next Saturday to intensify preps for their second appearance in competition."The riders have been training for a while now but they should start camp next week and increase their training sessions,” Murenzi told Times Sport yesterday.The six elite riders include; team captain Nathan Byukusenge, Abraham Ruhumuriza, Nicodem Habiyaremye, Emmanuel Rudahunga, Hadi Janvier and Joseph Biziyaremye.Biziyaremye, who only started competitive cycling last year, is one of the most talented riders since Adrien Niyonshuti broke onto the national cycling scene in 2009.The Rubavu-based rider won the Kigali-Rubavu stage in last year’s Tour of Rwanda and during this year’s Kwita Izina cycling challenge tour.After the Tour of Roi, Team Rwanda will turn focus to the Tour de Faso and African Continental championship slated to take place in Ouagadougou-Burkina Faso in November before returning for the Tour of Rwanda slated for November 18-25.
