US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton arrived in Uganda last evening ahead of talks today with Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni on efforts to end the war in Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).Uganda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Okello Oryem, told The New Times yesterday that Clinton will this morning visit South Sudan, which is locked in a crippling border and oil dispute with Sudan before returning to Kampala this afternoon for talks with her host."The talks will centre on a number of areas surrounding the conflict in the DRC and this has to do with the protection of Rwanda’s interests and concerns,” Oryem said."Her talks with the President will focus on finding both a short and long term solution to the DRC problem”.The DRC conflict has seen Congolese government forces battle with the M23 rebels, who have, over the last two months, seized parts of eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).The talks, Oryem added, will have a bearing on the next extraordinary summit of Heads of State of the 11 ICGLR Member States on the security situation in the DRC scheduled to take place in Kampala next week.
