Caring from your heart

It takes a kind heart to care for the hurting. Net photo.

We all have different strengths as individuals; and these could be in our abilities, personality and hobbies. We also react differently when certain issues arise in life like death, failure and disappointments that cause us pain.  Sometimes as teens, we find ourselves in situations where we have lost someone so dear or maybe a close friend has lost someone so dear to him/ her but your tears are far from your eyes that you fail to drop even one—you just cannot cry. A friend is hurt but you just don’t know what to say or do at that moment. Your fear is you might say the wrong thing—something that might intensify the pain, the burn and the frustrations. And what do you do in these two situations; you just sit there, looking dumb, like a piece of wood. Deep down inside, your heart is aching, you wonder what lurks in the minds of others watching. Don’t they think you are mean and selfish, you wonder. You try your best to shed a tear but none is in sight. Nothing will come out of your big un-bleary and dry eyes. You try to console yourself that you are being strong. And yes, yes that is the reason, you are strong-hearted, you want to say something but have no words to say because they are all chocked up in your throat, so you sit quietly looking at your friend in pain, frustrated and disappointed.Well, many times I’ve found myself in such situations and have always felt guilty about it and asked myself why was it only me that couldn’t cry. However, I later discovered that there are many other people just like me. I have concerted that we actually care in our out introverted way—we don’t express emotions easily in a verbal, and dramatic way but we feel the other persons pain. We silently care from our hearts. Therefore, teens who are introverts and are out there beating themselves up for being non-expressive, understand that you are created in a different way that is unique.
