THE national U-18 men’s basketball team will play three build-up matches as they continue their preparations for the African U-18 basketball tournament slated for Maputo-Mozambique from August 16-30.According to the president of Rwanda Basketball Federation Desire Mugwiza, the proposal to have a training camp in Gabon is not yet finalized but says friendlies against top local clubs APR and Espoir will provide the coach with good knowledge on where and how to improve the team before the continental show piece."We want to take the boys to Gabon for training because the weather is similar to the one in Mozambique and they also have a good team which would provide us with good knowledge on how our team is faring but since nothing is finalized, but we have secured friendlies with APR and Espoir,” Mugwiza told this paper.Rwanda beat Kenya 68-29 and 96-34 respectively to claim the zonal qualification slot and the junior hoops team have since returned back to residential camp at La Pallise Nyadungu to intensify their training sessions which are held twice daily at Amahoro.
